Men’s Tennis Looks to Keep Momentum 4/7/2005 The No. 54 Commodore men’s tennis team is looking to ride the sails of its huge mid-week win over No. 23 MTSU as they head back into SEC play on Friday and Sunday. The Commodores next challenge comes at the friendly confines of the Currey Tennis Center on Friday afternoon against arch-rival, No. 25 Tennessee. Thus far in 2005, the Vols post a record of 10-5, 5-3 SEC, including wins over both Auburn and LSU. In their last meeting, UT tripped the Commodores 5-2 in Knoxville on April 2. After its date with the Volunteers, the Dores hit the home courts again to tangle with the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday. The Bulldogs currently sit in a tie for second place in the Eastern Division with Florida, clutching a record of 13-5, 5-3 SEC. The Dawgs are looking to rebound after they dropped a pair of conference matchups to Florida and South Carolina, both 4-3 decisions. The Commodores claimed the last contest between the squads, taking a 4-3 decision in the NCAA Tournament. The win over the Dawgs put the Dores through to the Elite Eight. The matchup with the UT is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Friday and the Dores are slated to meet the Bulldogs on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. |
