VU Women Rout Auburn 7-0 4/3/2005 VU Blanks Auburn, 7-0 The No. 7 Vanderbilt tennis team capped its road weekend with a sweep of the Auburn Tigers on Sunday afternoon, 7-0. “I am really pleased with a great road trip,” said Vanderbilt Head Coach Geoff The Commodores notched all three doubles matches, blanking the Tigers in two of those matches by 8-0 tallies. The Dores refused to back down in the singles draw, surrendering a mere 18 games in the entire matchup. VU freshman Amanda Taylor and Caroline Ferrell came up big for the Dores, both blanking their opponents, 6-0, 6-0. VU seniors Audra Falk and Annie Menees also registered impressive victories of their own on Sunday, with Falk taking her match 6-3, 6-2 and Menees closing out her opponent, 6-3, 6-4. Commodores Amanda Fish and Taka Bertrand knocked off their Tiger opponents in straight sets as well. The win improves Head Coach Geoff Macdonald’s crew to 17-3, 7-1 SEC. The Dores continue their road swing as they travel to rivals Tennessee and Georgia on Friday and Sunday. Doubles Singles |
