The No. 7 Vanderbilt women’s tennis team looks to add a pair of SEC wins to its current 5-1 conference mark as it travels to Alabama on Friday and Auburn on Sunday.

Head Coach Geoff Macdonald’s Commodores enter its fourth weekend of conference play coming off a pair of victories last weekend over No. 47 LSU and No. 62 Arkansas.

The Dores boast a trio of netters with fourteen or more wins, including senior Audra Falk and sophomore Amanda Fish owning matching 15-3 marks.

VU’s first test of the weekend comes by way of the No. 27 Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Tide claim a 6-9, 1-5 SEC record thus far in 2005 and showcase a pair of singles talents ranked in the top 60 by the ITA.

UA junior Robin Stephenson owns a No. 7 ranking, while fellow junior Ashley Bentley clutches a No. 58 ranking, respectively.

The Dores faced the Crimson Tide twice in 2004, with the Dores blanking Alabama in Nashville and claiming a 4-2 decision in the SEC Tournament.

The showdown in Tuscaloosa is set to take place at 2:30 p.m.

The Commodores travel southeast after their date with the Tide to face Auburn on The Plains.

The Tigers are 4-5 at home in the Luther Young Tennis Complex and own a record of 7-8, 0-6 SEC.

The Dores tussle with the Tigers at Noon on Sunday.

“This is such an even year for the SEC as a whole,” said Macdonald.  “We are going to have a our hands full this weekend.”
