Golfers Heading to Bryan National 3/31/2005 BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – Vanderbilt’s women’s golf team begins play Friday at the Bryan National Collegiate, hosted by Wake Forest University. Seventeen teams will play a total of 54 holes over a three-day span at the Bryan Park Champions Course. “This is a great opportunity for us,” says Head Coach Martha Richards Freitag. “We are beginning to see our games improve, the result of the work we’ve been putting in since the school year began.” Vanderbilt’s last outing produced a fine fourth place team finish and an individual championship for Chris Brady at the LSU/Cleveland Classic two weeks ago. “The field at the Bryan is considered deeper than the LSU event and the course is likely going to be more challenging as well. These are many of the same teams we will see at the NCAA Regional Tournament,” Freitag says. The setting provides an opportunity for Brady to test her No. 20 national rating against a field that includes 10 of the Top 20 ranked individuals in the country. The field includes Auburn, Duke, Florida, Furman, Georgia, Louisville, UNC-Greensboro, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee, Tulane, Virginia and Wake Forest.
