Men’s Tennis Tripped at No. 7 Florida 3/11/2005 The No. 40 Vanderbilt men’s tennis team fell 7-0 to the Florida Gators on Friday afternoon in Gainesville. The Gators grabbed the doubles point, notching victories on all three courts. The UF combination of Hamid Mirzadeh and Greg Oullette dropped VU’s No. 27 pairing of Scott Brown and Jason Pinsky for their first doubles defeat of the season, 8-4. In the singles draw, Mirzadeh lent Brown his third singles loss at the No. 1 position, 6-2, 6-3. At the No. 2 position, VU’s Matt Lockin gave Florida’s Vladimir Obradovic all he could handle. Lockin got out to a 5-2 lead in the first frame, but fell in straights sets, 7-5, 7-5. The Gators took every set from the Commodores on Sunday, dropping the Dores to 8-4, 0-3 SEC. With the win, UF improves to 8-4, 3-0 SEC. Singles Doubles |
