Vandy Women Seeded No. 3 in SEC Tourney

GREENVILLE, S.C. – No. 19 Vanderbilt wrapped up the No. 3 seed in this week’s Southeastern Conference Tournament in Greenville, S.C. The Commodores rallied to defeat No. 18 Georgia in overtime Sunday afternoon, 66-59, for their first win over a ranked team this season.
Vanderbilt will play the winner of the game between No. 6 Seed Mississippi State and No. 11 seed Arkansas Friday night at 9:15 p.m. (EST)/8:15 p.m. (CST). The game will be televised on FSN South. Saturday’s semifinal game is set for 9:15 p.m. (EST) and the 2005 SEC Tournament Championship game will be played at 7 p.m. (EST) Sunday night on ESPN2.
Vanderbilt is the defending SEC Tournament Champion after rallying to defeat Georgia in the 2004 Tournament in Nashville, 62-56. Sophomore forward Carla Thomas earned tournament MVP honors.
