Joe Germanese Named to College Soccer News Freshman All-America Team 1/21/2005
Joe Germanese Named to College Soccer News Freshman All-America Team Vanderbilt freshman forward Joe Germanese has been named to the College Soccer News Freshman All-America Team. He is one of 12 players who earned third team honors. He is the only freshman from the Missouri Valley Conference to be named to the all-america teams. Germanese, a 5-10 forward from Ballwin, Mo. (St. Louis University School) was selected as the 2004 Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year. He was second on the team in points with 16, including five goals and six assists and scored two game-winning goals. He started in every game except one which was the final game of the season when a senior, who was being honored on Senior Night, started in his place. He scored a goal and an assist in three games. He was named to the MVC All-Freshman Team and earned Vanderbilt PUMA Classic All-Tournament honors. Prior to the season, he was listed on the College Soccer News List of the Top 100 Freshman to keep an Eye On. He was also named to the Top Drawer Soccer All-Freshman Second Team. The Vanderbilt men’s soccer team placed 11 players on the 2004 Southeastern Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. Student-athletes on the Honor Roll must have at least a 3.0 GPA between the 2004 Spring, Summer and Fall semesters.
