Bowling Hits the Road 1/20/2005
Bowling Hits the Road Vanderbilt’s newest varsity squad heads to national runner-up Central Missouri State to take part in the Greater Ozark Women’s Collegiate Invitational. The event will be the third overall competition for the Dores, with the others coming at Minnesota State-Mankato and the Southern Invitational in Baton Rouge. Coach John Williamson’s lineup heads north in search the program’s first win in dual match competition. The Commodores have come close in their prior efforts, but will look to get over the hump this weekend. “It’s going to be a pretty strong field,” said Vanderbilt Head Coach John Williamson. “Reigning national champion Nebraska will be there and the runners-up are hosting the event.” According to event officials, the tournament will consist of two rounds — qualifying and finals. The Commodores have the opportunity to compete in a total of ten matches during their visit to Springfield, Missouri. Qualifying will consist of five Dores hurling seven matches, with the team’s won/loss record determining its standings in the finals. The three remaining games will make up the finals. “This is a great opportunity to gain more valuable experience,” said Williamson. “We will be playing against some of the best teams in the country.” The hurling commences on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The finals are scheduled for Sunday morning beginning at 11:00 a.m. Stay tuned to http://www.vucommodores.com for more information. |
