Commodores Look To Extend Home Win Streak When Florida Visits on Saturday NASHVILLE — Vanderbilt looks to extend its homecourt win streak to 12 games when Florida visits Memorial Gymnasium Saturday, Jan. 15. The game starts at 2 p.m. and will be televised by Jefferson Pilot Sports. Game Notes The Commodores have won 11 consecutive games at home, including 10 contests this season. The streak dates back to last year’s 61-58 win over Tennessee on Senior Day, March 3. Vanderbilt lost for the first time in eight games Wednesday, dropping a 69-54 decision at No. 9 Kentucky. Corey Smith led all Commodores with 16 points. Shan Foster and Mario Moore added nine points each. UK shot a season-high 57.8 percent from the field. Rajon Rondo led all Wildcats with a career-high 18 points. The Commodores (11-5, 2-1 SEC) have taken advantage of their home surroundings this season, shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 45.9 percent from beyond the arc. VU averages 79.0 points at home while outrebounding foes by 5.4 boards. Mario Moore leads all Commodores averaging 14.1 points and 3.6 assists per game. He was named SEC Player of the Week on Monday after strong performances against Alabama and Tennessee. Smith leads the team in scoring (14.1) and is tied for first with Julian Terrell in rebounding (5.9) over the past eight games. Shan Foster is tied for first in the SEC, shooting 64.3 percent from 3-point range (9-of-14) in league games. Florida (10-3, 2-0 SEC) edged Auburn 84-78 in over time Wednesday in Auburn. Guard Anthony Roberson (16.9 ppg) netted 34 points in the win. The Gators rank atop the SEC in scoring, averaging 83.6 points a game. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 59-48, including a 37-10 advantage in Nashville. |
