Baseball America Preseason All-America Teams Released DURHAM, N.C. — Vanderbilt junior baseball players Warner Jones and Ryan Mullins have been named to the Baseball America Preseason All-America team, selected by major league scouts. Vanderbilt is the only Southeastern Conference school to place more than one player on the teams. Arizona State, Long Beach, Miami, North Carolina, Southern Cal, Stanford and Tulane each placed two players on the team while Texas placed three players on the list. Both Jones and Mullins were selected to the second team. The Southeastern Conference, which sent four teams to Omaha in 2004, provides seven All-Americans from six schools. The teams were selected by major league scouting directors. Baseball America asked them to vote on the team and make their selections based on performance, talent and major league potential. In the past, the preseason All-America team has been a predictor both of the first round of the draft and of team success. For example, nine members of the 2004 preseason team were first-round picks last June. Eight preseason All-Americans from last year are on the team again in 2005.
