NASHVILLE — Coach Melanie Balcomb got her 11th-ranked Commodores back on track Saturday, soundly defeating the Saint Louis Billikens 94-51. The Lady Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky handed the Commodores their first loss of the season earlier in the week.

The Commodores jumped out early to a fast-paced 18-2 lead, and maintained control throughout the game. The 43-point margin of victory was well above their season average of 35.6. They also shot exceptionally well today, with a field-goal percentage of 54.8, by far besting the season’s average of 52.4 percent.

Five Commodores scored in double-digits, led by senior Ashley Earley (20) and sophomore Carla Thomas (19). Thomas led the ‘Dores with eight rebounds.

The 7-1 Commodores travel to Malibu, Calif., for the Hilton Woodland Hills Beach Classic, which begins Sunday, Dec. 20. Their first opponent is Brigham Young University.
