Commodores Move Up to No. 11 in USA Today/ ESPN/ WBCA Poll 12-8-04 12/8/2004 NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s women’s basketball team moved up three spots and entered the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA coaches’ poll this week ranked No. 11 according to the poll released Tuesday. It is the highest ranking for the Commodores so far this season. Vanderbilt (6-0) defeated Miami (Ohio) last Saturday on the road to remain perfect on the season. Vanderbilt is one of four Southeastern Conference teams ranked this week. LSU earned all 40 first place votes to earn the No. 1 spot followed by Duke. Stanford is No. 3, while Texas, Notre Dame, Ohio State, North Carolina, UConn, Tennessee and Baylor complete the top 10. Georgia fell to No. 14. Despite finishing last week 2-0 with wins over Memphis and the Redhawks, Vanderbilt dropped to No. 14 in the Associated Press Poll this week. The Commodores return to action Thursday night when they travel to Western Kentucky for a 7 p.m. tip-off. |
