Commodores Fall To Southern Illinois, 67-53 LaMar Owen recorded a double-double with a game-high 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds to help lead Southern Illinois past Vanderbilt, 67-53, Friday in third-round action of the Las Vegas Invitational at Valley Athletic Complex. Box Score The Commodores (3-1), who suffered their first loss of the season, were led by Mario Moore’s team-high 14 points. Julian Terrell went 5-of-10 from the field to post 11 point and grab seven rebounds. The Salukis’ (3-0) smothering defense limited the Commodores to 34.8 percent shooting for the game, including 29 percent in the first half (7-of-24). SIU, who never trailed in the game, forced Vanderbilt into 20 turnovers – tying their season high set against Cal State Northridge. Vanderbilt will face Arizona State in a third-place consolation match-up Saturday at 7 p.m. CT. |
