Commodores Take on #3 SMU Mustangs in State Farm MVC Tournament Play In The Commodore men’s soccer team makes its first appearance in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament under head coach Tim McClements when it faces third-ranked SMU, the MVC’s top seed, on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. CT in Dallas, Texas. Game Notes Vanderbilt is 1-5 all time in MVC Tournament matches. In their only postseason match against the Mustangs, the Dores dropped a 2-1 double overtime decision in 2001. After receiving his fifth yellow card of the season in the Western Kentucky game, VU leading scorer John Krause will not make the trip to SMU. Krause is second in the MVC in total points with 27 and second in goals scored with 12. Freshman Joe Germanese scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Western Kentucky to ensure the Commodores’ postseason berth. The Commodores have more than doubled their offensive output from last season. Vanderbilt totals 94 points in 17 games this season. Last season, Vanderbilt totaled 42 points in 18 contests. Three Commodores total double digit points this season, including Krause, Germanese and Josh Medcalf. |
