Vanderbilt Men’s Basketball Quotes
Head Coach Kevin Stallings
On the loss of Matt Freije… “When any school loses its all-time scorer, it is a significant loss. Our players, however are stepping up to the challenge of proving that they are a good team and can win without him. Being a 20-points a game player, it’s a big role to fill and we don’t have one guy who can take that place, but as a team we can fill that void. We are working on a balance and I am confident that we will be successful because we have depth. We are eight or 10 guys deep and on any given night any of those guys could score 15 points in a game. Our depth is really what is going to make us a success.”
On continuing success…. “We have seven guys who were here last year and who know what success feels like. Those guys are going to carry the team because they want to have that feeling back. Our program has grown from last year, and it will continue to do so through out the season. Those seven guys are going to make it happen.”
Guard Jason Holwerda
On the season… “We have a good team chemistry going this year, so it should be interesting. We definitely have a good mix of players with competitive freshmen and sophomores coming in to play.”
On the expectations… “We have guys on the team from last year who have been there and know about winning big games. I think this will definitely help and carry over into this year.”
Center Dawid Przybyszewski
On this year’s team… “Besides losing some impacting seniors, we have a great group of incoming freshmen who all have great talent and athleticism. All around we have a great group of guys who are ready to go out and play hard this year.”
On losing Matt Freije… “I think it is a great loss. He was a great teammate and it will be difficult to replace him. However, we have a lot of guys who are ready to step in and have a major impact on our program.”
