Georgia beats Vanderbilt, 33-3 ATHENS, Ga. – The Georgia Bulldogs handed Vanderbilt its fifth loss of the season today. After dropping three of its four losses by only three points each, the No. 8-ranked Bulldogs soundly defeated the Commodores, 33-3. Photo Gallery | Box Score The Bulldog defense established early command of the game, forcing the Commodores into three-and-out situations on their first two possessions. Georgia answered with two rushing touchdowns, jumping out to a 14-0 lead with 5:16 left to play in the first quarter. The relentless Bulldog defense kept quarterback Jay Cutler and the Commodore attack at bay virtually all day. Cutler completed 12 of 22 attempts for 133 yards, and VU managed only 53 yards on the ground. Conversely, the Georgia offense had 527 yards total offense, with two rushers gaining more than 100 yards. If there was an upside during the lopsided loss, it’s that Vanderbilt outscored the Bulldogs in the second quarter, 3-2. Patrick Johnson kicked a 42-yard field goal with 4:12 to play in the half. The Commodores return to Vanderbilt Stadium next week to face Eastern Kentucky with a record of 1-5. |
