Commodores lose 1-0 in Knoxville 10/15/2004 The Vanderbilt women’s soccer team headed into Knoxville today to face #6 Tennessee. While the game started off very evenly matched through the first half, the Lady Vols scored early in the second to win the game. Box score The Commodores registered 6 shots to Tennessee’s 23. Commodore goalkeeper Tyler Griffin had 8 saves toppling Tennessee’s 3. The Tennessee goal was scored by Lyndsey Patterson just 27 seconds in the second half. The best scoring chance of the match for the Black and Gold came at the 73:58 mark as VU forward Sarah Dennis took a pass in close, turned and fired just high over the net. The Commodores began pressing the offensive attack in the final minutes but failed to score as Tennessee registered the 1-0 victory. Vanderbilt is now 3-6-4 overall and 2-6-3 in conference play. Vanderbilt will travel to Athens, GA to face the Bulldogs on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. |
