COMMODORES FALL TO TULSA, 4-2

Tulsa, Okla. — The Tulsa Hurricanes scored three unanswered goals to come from behind and defeat the Vanderbilt Commodores today at Hurricane Stadium in a steady rain. Vanderbilt is now 6-5-1, 2-2 in Misouri Valley Conference action, while Tulsa owns a 6-3-2 overall record, 2-1-1 in league play.

Tulsa scored just 34 seconds into the game when Ryan Pore collected his 11th goal of the season. Vanderbilt’s Justin Moreland tied the game at the 20:03 mark when his header off a Patrick Ryan corner kick found the back of the goal. Josh Medcalf then scored just over nine minutes later. Medcalf took a pass from Tim Lonergan and John Krause off a corner kick to give the Commodores a 2-1 halftime lead.

The Hurricanes scored three goals in the second half beginning at the 65:02 mark when Lawson Vaughn scored his first goal of the season from 8-yards out. Pore scored his second goal of the game at the 74:03 mark and Daniel Wasson scored his fourth goal of the season at the 84:41 mark for the 4-2 Tulsa win.

Tulsa outshot Vanderbilt 25-14. Joe Germanese led the Commodores with three shots, including two on goal. Ryan, Krause, and Medcalf each totaled two shots.

Kenny Schoeni totaled eight saves on the day for the Commodores giving up all four goals. Brad Lowyns gave up two goals and collected five saves for the Hurricanes.

The Commodores continue road action next weekend when they travel to Creighton (Oct. 15) and Drake (Oct. 17).
