Vanderbilt Ranked Sixth in the Midwest Region

The Vanderbilt men’s soccer team is ranked #6 in the NSCAA Midwest Region. The Commodores are 6-3-1 and 2-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Vanderbilt leads the league with 75 points, 25 goals and 25 assists. Junior John Krause leads the league with 24 points, while freshman Joe Germanese is tied for fourth with 16 points. Krause also leads the MVC in total goals (11), goals per game (1.1), game-winning goals (4). Germanese is the league leader in assists (8) and assists per game (0.73).

OTHER SOCCER NOTES:
? The Commodores are 5-0-1 in their last six games, including five consecutive wins.    It is the longest undefeated streak since 1996 when the Commodores won six consecutive games.

? Vanderbilt is 2-0 to start Missouri Valley Conference action for the third time since joining the league in 1997.  In 1998, VU started league play with a 2-0 record, including a victory over regular season champion Bradley (6-1-1) and Eastern Illinois.  In 2000, VU was 2-0 with wins over Evansville and Western Kentucky. 

? Vanderbilt’s six wins this season doubles the Commodore win total in 2002 (three) and 2003 (three).  The Commodores have won two MVC games which is more than the 2002 and 2003 season total combined.  VU won one league game in 2002 and was 0-7-2 last season.

? John Krause continues to lead the Commodores in scoring with 20 points.  Before Sunday’s game with Southwest Missouri, Krause had scored a point in eight consecutive games.  He totals four game-winning goals this season.
