Vanderbilt Defeats Wright State, 3-1 9/26/2004
Vanderbilt Defeats Wright State, 3-1 Dayton, Ohio – The Vanderbilt men’s soccer team earned their fourth win of the season today with a 3-1 victory over Wright State. Junior Kyle Lapkewych, freshman Joe Germanese and sophomore Josh Medcalf all scored goals in the first half leading Vanderbilt to a 3-0 lead at intermission. Wright State scored it’s only goal of the game with almost 15 minutes remaining. “It was a great, solid effort from top to bottom,” VU Head Coach Tim McClements said. “Everyone did their job and stuck with the game plan.” The Commodores have exceeded its 2003 win total of three games with the victory. Vanderbilt is now 4-3-1 on the season. “We’ve had our ups and downs this season,” McClements added, “but it’s nice to see our players become more consistent with their play.” The Commodores open Missouri Valley Conference action Friday (Oct. 1) with Evansville at 7 pm in the Vanderbilt Soccer Stadium. |
