Vanderbilt Women’s Soccer Drop Game to Penn 9/10/2004 At an afternoon game in the UPenn Soccer Tournament, the Vanderbilt women’s soccer team lost to UPenn in their opening game, 0-3. — Box Score — The Dores seemed to run out of steam early and could not keep up with the fast-paced game that the Quakers prepared. The first goal for UPenn was scored early in the game, less than five minutes after the opening whistle. The Commodores then held UPenn scoreless until the 64th minute, when the second goal was scored. Vanderbilt had four shots on goal while the Quakers got off 10 shots. Tyler Griffin registered four saves in goal for Vanderbilt. Overall, Meredith Kohn stood out for the Commodores, showing excellent transition of the ball in play. Kari Boersma also put in a good amount of time in the second half, despite having her arm in a cast. This is a disappointing start to yet another tournament weekend away from home. The team brought home two losses last weekend from the UAB Nike Classic. Hopefully, they can rebound against Princeton on Sunday when they face off at Noon EST.
