Davidson Defeats Dores, 5-2 Davidson, NC – Five different players scored a goal leading the Davidson Wildcats to a 5-2 win over Vanderbilt in the first day of the Davidson adidas Classic. — Box Score — The Wildcats scored first just over five minutes into the game off a Mac Wilkie direct kick from the corner. Vanderbilt tied the game at the 16:35 mark when junior John Krause scored his second goal of the season – a kick from the middle of the box on an assist by Jamie Gilbert. Two minutes later, Davidson took the lead for good when David Sartorio scored on a penalty kick. Davidson led 3-1 at halftime. Davidson scored two more goals in the second half with the final Wildcat goal coming at the 85:36 mark when Tom Lavan kicked a rebound in off Kerby Teller’s shot. Just 32 seconds later, Gilbert kicked a shot over the Wilcat’s goalkeeper from 40-yards out to end the scoring for both teams. Davidson outshot Vanderbilt 16-9, led by Sartorio with three shots, including two on goal. Krause led Vanderbilt with four shots, including three on goal. VU’s Kenny Schoeni started in goal and played for 77:29 giving up four goals and totaling three saves. Jamie Burns played the final 12:31 giving up one goal and numbering one save. Davidson’s Bart Creasman totaled four saves and gave up one goal in 63:20, while Jordan Hauser played for 26:40 giving up one goal with no saves.
