Women’s Soccer Plays Host To Wake Forest Tonight 8/27/2004 Nashville — The Vanderbilt Women’s soccer team is set to play the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in its first regular season match up tonight at 7 p.m. CT. Game Notes (in pdf format) The Commodores went undefeated in pre-season play against Furman University and Samford University. We are very excited to host such a perennial powerhouse soccer school as Wake Forest Friday night. Wake plays in the most competitive leagues in the country (ACC). This game will be a fantastic measuring stick for our team,” says Head Coach Ronnie Coveleskie Hill. Vanderbilt boasts a strong team including the number 22 recruiting class in the nation. “This team has an amazing personality. With a roster of 21 players, and 15 of them are freshman and sophomores, that would lead one to believe that we lack experience. I beg to differ. I firmly believe that the experience we lack, is made up for in the passion that our team has for the game,” says Coveleskie Hill of her team. “As you approach the field, you will see a very different Vanderbilt team. This year’s team is filled with athletic, enthusiastic and adventurous players. The type of players that want the ball when the game is on the line. The same type of player that loves coming to training as they do competing in a game.” Wake Forest women’s soccer is playing with 13 returning players and a very large recruiting class of 16. The team is lead by second team All-ACC selection Melanie Schneider and ACC All-Freshman team selection Elizabeth Remy. The Demon Deacons are expected to finish seventh in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Game is set to start at 7:00pm CST.
