Brady Second at Tennessee Open 7-29-04 7/29/2004 Low Amateur Chris Brady, a rising sophomore on Vanderbilt’s golf team, recently finished in second place at the Tennessee Women’s Open Championship. Brady fired rounds of 72-74–146 to finish as low amateur, two-over par and one shot behind professional Leah Hart of Snellville, Ga. The tournament was played at Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain with 97 golfers competing. “I played solid golf for the most part but some putts didn’t fall when they needed to for me to win,” Brady said. The tournament was just Brady’s second this summer as her schedule has been dominated by summer school and some off-season work on her game. “In June I placed 10th at the Women’s Eastern Championship in Virginia Beach,” Brady said, “but mostly I have been working on my competitive edge since I’m not playing tournaments.” Brady, a second-team all-Southeastern Conference selection as a freshman on Vanderbilt’s SEC championship team, keeps alive a streak of Commodore excellence in the state Open. Recent Vanderbilt graduates Sarah Jacobs and Courtney Wood were Open champions in 2003 and 2002, respectively. “I was trying to keep that tradition alive!” Brady said of her performance. |
