Vanderbilt’s Dore Jam III Scheduled August 15 7-19-04 NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Numerous Vanderbilt athletic programs will join forces with the Commodore football team Sunday, August 15 for Dore Jam III, a two-hour free event packed with fun activities for the entire family. Nearly 2,000 Vanderbilt fans participated in Dore Jam last year. The first event, staged in 2002, was one of the most successful preseason fan events ever for Commodore sports. Dore Jam III is scheduled August 15, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. It will be held at the John Rich Practice Complex, located directly behind McGugin Athletic Center. Family activities also are scheduled on adjacent Natchez Trace, which will close to vehicle traffic from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. “I’d like for every Commodore fan in Middle Tennessee to come out to the event. Our players and coaches enjoy the chance to say hello to our fans,” Head Coach Bobby Johnson said. Several Vanderbilt athletic programs will be represented at the event. Commodore coaches and student-athletes from various sports will host free activities for kids, including skill and interactive contests. Inflatable activities for kids also will be featured. Dore Jam III also offers fans an opportunity to meet Coach Johnson and get autographs from all of the Commodore players. The team, led by captains Jay Cutler, Justin Geisinger, Jovan Haye, and Chris Young, opens preseason camp August 11. The season opener against SEC East rival South Carolina is scheduled Sept. 4 in Vanderbilt Stadium. Kickoff is 11:30 a.m. The first 2,000 fans attending Dore Jam III will receive a Vanderbilt Football Schedule Magnet. The event also features complimentary hot dogs and soft drinks to the first 2,000 fans. Nashville’s number one radio station for new country and the legends, 103.3 WKDF, will provide music. Season ticket packages, starting at $99, are available for the Commodores’ six home games.
