Harris/Brown fall in doubles action

TULSA, Okla. — Vanderbilt senior Chad Harris advanced to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Singles Tournament with a 7-6, 7-5 victory over Lester Cook of Texas A&M Thursday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Complex.

Harris will face Izak van der Merwe of Old Dominion on Friday, May 28, at 10 a.m. CT. Van der Merwe was a 7-6, 7-5 winner over Rice’s Robert Searle Thursday.

Harris will be out for revenge Friday, as he was defeated by van der Merwe, 7-5, 6-4, during a dual match in March.

In doubles action Thursday, Harris paired up with junior Scott Brown to make their second-straight appearance at the NCAA Doubles Championships. The VU duo lost a tough match to Harvard’s Jonathan Chu and David Lingman, 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.
