Vanderbilt secured the No. 7 seed in the SEC Tournament on Saturday. The Commodores will face No. 2 Georgia at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Vanderbilt Takes on #2 Seed Georgia in First Round Action

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt Commodores are headed to the SEC Baseball Tournament for the second consecutive season and the 10th time overall. Vanderbilt (39-16, 16-14), the #7 seed, will take on the #2 seed Georgia Bulldogs (37-18, 19-11) Wednesday (May 26) at 1 pm CT at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Ala.

The Commodores, who finished fourth in the SEC Eastern Division, took five SEC series this season, including three-game sweeps over Georgia, Mississippi State and Kentucky. Georgia finished first in the SEC East with 19 conference wins, including 14 in its last 16 games.

The Commodores took three games from Georgia earlier in the season (March 26-28). Vanderbilt defeated Georgia 4-3, 8-4 and 12-8.

Vanderbilt’s 39 regular season wins sets a school record for most wins in a season. The previous mark for overall wins in a season was 37 (including post-season) set in 1974. VU’s 16 SEC wins also sets a school record with the previous mark of 14 set three times, including last season.

The Commodores, the 1980 SEC Tournament Champion, own a 13-16 record in SEC Tournament Games.
