VU Men’s Tennis Heads To Oxford For NCAA Regional OXFORD, Miss. — The 22nd-ranked Vanderbilt men’s tennis team travels to Oxford, Miss., this weekend to take part in an NCAA Regional Championship, May 15-16. The Commodores face Oregon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center at 1 p.m. CT Saturday, following a 10 a.m. match between Ole Miss and Binghamton. The Dores are making their fifth trip to the tournament in the last six years. The Commodores were NCAA Finalists a season ago, running through No. 10 Texas A&M, No. 2 Baylor and No. 5 Baylor on their way to the championship match. Vanderbilt travels to Oxford for the first time this season. In 2003, the Magnolia State was very good to the Commodores. The Palmer/Salloum Center was the site of the Southeastern Conference Tournament a year ago, where the Commodores defeated Georgia, Ole Miss and Florida to win their first-ever SEC Tournament championship. The winners of Saturday’s first round matches will face off Sunday for the right to take part in the round of 16, hosted by the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla. |
