Commodore Tennis Teams Receive NCAA Bids NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt men’s and women’s tennis teams will begin NCAA Tournament action on Saturday, May 15. The women will play host to IUPUI at 2 p.m. CT, while the men will face Oregon at 2 p.m. in Oxford, Miss. At both sites, regional finals are scheduled for Sunday, May 16, at 1 p.m. Both events will take place the May 15 and 16. First round matches in Nashville are scheduled for 10 a.m. (Florida State vs. Marshall) and 2 p.m. (Vanderbilt vs. IUPUI) Saturday, May 15. Matches in Oxford are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (Ole Miss vs. Binghamton) and 2 p.m. (Vanderbilt vs. Oregon). At both sites, Sunday’s regional final will start at 1 p.m. All times are central. The women will play host to Mid-Continent Conference Champion IUPUI in the tournament’s first round. Prior to that match, No. 27 Florida State and No. 55 Marshall will face off at the Currey Tennis Center. The winners compete the following day for the opportunity to advance to the National Tournament in Athens, Ga. In Oxford, the men will take on 49th-ranked Oregon in first round action. Binghamton and Ole Miss will face each other on the opposite side of that bracket. Those winners will compete for a spot in the 16-team field at the National Tournament in Tulsa, Okla. The Vanderbilt women’s team is making its 10th-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, hosting an NCAA Regional for the sixth-straight year. Head Coach Geoff Macdonald has taken the Commodores to the tournament every year since arriving in Nashville and has compiled a 20-9 record in tournament play. Men’s Head Coach Ken Flach is looking to lead the Dores back to NCAA Finals in their fifth tournament appearance. The Dores are making their first appearance in Oxford since capturing the 2003 SEC Tournament championship at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. The Commodores followed that performance up by taking out No. 10 Texas A&M, No. 2 Baylor and No. 5 UCLA to reach the championship match of the NCAA Tournament.
