Eight Commodores Named to 2003-04 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll 4-13-04 4/13/2004 Eight Vanderbilt student-athletes have been named to the 2003-04 Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll announced April 12 by league commissioner Mike Slive. The Commodore men’s and women’s basketball programs accounted for all eight honorees. Seniors Jenni Benningfield (Human and Organizational Development), Venessa Ferragamo (History), Erica Grimaldi (Secondary Education/English), and Hillary Hager (Interdisciplinary Neuroscience) made the list from the women’s team. Juniors Jason Holwerda (Human and Organizational Development) and Dawid Przybyszewski (German) and seniors Russell Lakey (Economics) and Martin Schnedlitz (Economics/Political Science) earned the accolade from the men’s squad. The 2003-04 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll is based on grades earned from the 2003 spring, summer and fall terms. Both Commodore teams enjoyed solid seasons on the hardwood during the 2003-04 campaign. The women’s team finished with a 26-8 record after winning the SEC Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Tournament’s Midwest Regional Semifinal. The men’s team set the school record for home wins in a season (15) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Phoenix Regional Semifinal en route to posting a 23-10 mark. |
