Celebrate Vanderbilt Athletics During ‘Dore Days

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — During an 11-day stretch in April being tabbed “Dore Days,” the campus of Vanderbilt University will become the center for family entertainment, offering a wide variety of sporting events that are all priced at $7 or less.

The Southeastern Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament, hosted April 15-18 at Vanderbilt’s Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center, will feature three of the nation’s top five teams — including the third-ranked Commodores — in four days of exciting dual-match play. Vanderbilt, the second seed in the tournament after finishing the SEC regular season with a mark of 10-1, will take the winner of a Thursday contest between Alabama and Auburn on Friday, April 16, with the match starting after 1:15 p.m. CT. The SEC Men’s Tennis Tournament will take place the following weekend, April 22-25, as the Commodores defend their 2003 title against seven of the nation’s top 25 teams. Single day tickets are available for $7, while 4-day passes, available for either tournament, are $20.

The SEC also will be showing off its baseball prowess at Hawkins Field, where the Commodores will play host to league-rival Arkansas, April 16-18. Friday’s game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. CT; Saturday’s game will be at 6 p.m.; and first pitch for Sunday’s game is slated for 1 p.m. Admission to all three games is $5 for adults and $3 for children, 17 and under. Members of the women’s basketball team will be on hand before Friday’s game and members of the men’s team will be available before Sunday’s game to meet and sign autographs.

The Vanderbilt lacrosse and track teams also will take part in the festivities surrounding ‘Dore Days. The lacrosse team plays host to a pair of important American Lacrosse Conference opponents in Ohio (April 16, 7 p.m.) and Ohio State (April 18, 1 p.m. for Senior Day) at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex. Tickets are $3 for adults and $1 for children. The track team will hold the annual Vanderbilt Track & Field Invitational, April 16 & 17, welcoming teams from across the region to the Vanderbilt Track. Admission is free.

All events during ‘Dore Days are free to Vanderbilt students, while the SEC Tennis Tournaments will allow anyone presenting a college ID free admission. Each day, the first 50 faculty, staff and students that show their Vanderbilt ID 30 minutes before a VU tennis match will receive a free T-shirt. Additionally, purchasing a ticket to any event during Dore Days also allows entry into the other events of that day (admission to baseball is excluded from this offer due to the reserved seating at Hawkins Field).
