Commodores Return From Spring Break Tuesday 3/15/2004
Commodores Return From Spring Break Tuesday NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt Head Coach Bobby Johnson is anxious to get the focus back on football when his Commodores return to the John Rich Facility Tuesday after a week away from Spring Practice. The Commodores are scheduled to conduct at least four practices this week, with the top attraction planned Saturday afternoon in Vanderbilt Stadium with the offense and defense units square off during the annual Black & Gold Scrimmage. “We’re ready and anxious to get back to work this week,” Johnson said. “I thought we got off to a good start before the break, so I’m looking forward to seeing our guys pick things up where they left off. That’s the challenge ahead of us on Tuesday.” The Commodores have seven practice opportunities remaining this spring. The squad is expected to practice at least three times before the Black & Gold Scrimmage, then return next week to conclude the closing spring drills. The Tuesday session, open to the public, starts at 4:30 p.m. One of Vanderbilt’s best practices this spring was its last before the break. The intense session included a 50-play scrimmage that pleased the head coach. “We left with an excellent practice and I hope we can return with the same. We want our team to have the same intensity and concentration level Tuesday they had before the break,” Johnson said. Black & Gold Scrimmage This Saturday Attendance to the Black & Gold Scrimmage is free of charge to Commodore followers. Stadium gates near the intersection of Jess Neely Drive and Natchez Trace will open at 1:00 p.m. Vanderbilt cheerleaders will welcome Commodore fans at Gate 2. |
