Luke List to be Honored by Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame 3/14/2004
Luke List to be Honored by Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame Vanderbilt freshman Luke List, a former star golfer at the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn., has been chosen as one of two Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame Athletes of the Year. He will be honored, along with current Baylor senior women’s golfer and soccer standout Beth Felts, at the organization’s annual banquet on Monday, March 15, at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Both List and Felts were contributors to numerous state high school golf championships at the Baylor School, with List nabbing two individual state titles. The Ringgold, Ga., native also qualified for the U.S. Open (PGA Tour) as an 18-year old after taking medalist honors in sectional qualifying in Atlanta, Ga. List has shown tremendous promise as a collegian during his rookie campaign at Vanderbilt after posting four top ten finishes during the fall season. He has already equaled and broken the school record for the best 18-hole round in his young career. He fired a 65 at the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate to equal former VU All-America Brandt Snedeker’s mark. List’s 7-under par score did set the school record for most shots under par in a single round. Most recently, the rookie carded a 9-under par 63 at the Hyatt/Dorado Beach Intercollegiate to reset the Vanderbilt mark. His nine-birdie, nine-par, bogey free tour of the links came during second round play in the San Juan, Puerto Rico, tournament. List and his teammates will return to the course at the Atlanta Intercollegiate in Atlanta, Ga., over Mar. 29-30. |
