2/22/2004 Commodores snap AU’s 16-game home court winning streak

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Abi Ramsey scored 13 of her 22 points in the second half to help Vanderbilt rally to beat No. 14 Auburn 68-60 Sunday.

Carla Thomas scored 16 points and Hillary Hager added 12 as the Commodores (18-7, 6-6 Southeastern Conference) overcame an early 10-point deficit.

Natasha Brackett scored 19 points to lead Auburn (20-6, 8-4). Le’Coe Willingham added 17, but the Tigers’ leading scorer was limited to just four points after halftime.

Auburn raced out to a 16-6 lead, capped by Willingham’s layup with 12:18 to play in the first half. But the Commodores slowly climbed back, tying the game at 22 on a 3-pointer by Ramsey at the 5:48 mark.

The Tigers went on to lead 34-31 at the break. Then, after another 3 by Ramsey tied the game at 44, Vanderbilt used a 13-2 run to take control of the game.

Auburn pulled within five on a jumper by Marita Payne with 5:44 left to play, but the Commodores reopened a double-digit lead and went 4-for-6 from the free-throw line in the final minute.

Ramsey was 4-of-8 from 3-point range.
