No. 8 Vanderbilt Men’s Tennis Returns Home To Face No. 55 Purdue NASHVILLE, Tenn — The eighth-ranked Vanderbilt men’s tennis team returns home this weekend for a Saturday match against No. 55 Purdue at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center. The match, which is scheduled for a 2 p.m. CT start, marks the final tuneup before Southeastern Conference action begins for the Commodores in March. The return home for the Dores will be a welcome one. On the road the past few weeks, Vanderbilt dropped four out of five matches. At the National Team Indoors in Seattle, Wash., the Commodores defeated No. 11 California before falling to No. 5 Stanford and No. 8 Duke. Last weekend, Vanderbilt dropped a pair of match in Columbus, Ohio, to No. 16 Ohio State and No. 56 Michigan State. The Commodores will be looking to avenge the most recent pair of losses against Purdue, its third-straight Big Ten opponent. The Boilermakers are 3-1 coming into this weekend. Their most recent result was a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Notre Dame two weeks ago. Vanderbilt is 4-0 at home this season. Following the Purdue match, Vanderbilt will have 14 days off before opening SEC play at home against No. 7 Florida and No. 24 South Carolina. Admission to the Vanderbilt/Purdue match is free. The scheduled starting time of 2 p.m. CT is subject to change, as the match follows a neutral site contest between the women’s teams from Clemson and Iowa. The women’s match will begin at 11 a.m. CT, with the men’s following closely behind. |
