Seniors Zach Dailey and Lewis Smith, ranked No. 45 in the nation, were facing a match point, down 7-6, but rallied to win their match, 9-7, and clinch the doubles point for the Commodores. Harris made sure that the Commodores got off to a better start in singles. He defeated Louisville Jhonny Berrido in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. Lockin and Dailey followed suit with straight-set wins of their own to clinch the match for the Commodores. At 4-6 singles, there were a total of five tiebreakers played.
