Commodore Women Fourth After First Round 1/24/2004 Stormy conditions hampered the play in Arizona. TUCSON, Ariz. – Vanderbilt received superb performances from May Wood and Courtney Wood and found itself in fourth place at the rain-plagued Wildcat Invitational at Arizona National Golf Club in Tuscon. Play the first day was halted by heavy winds, rain and even sleet. The Commodores trail Ohio State by five shots after shooting a six-over par 290 Monday. Courtney Wood and May Wood also find themselves in a fourth place tie after overcoming the elements to shoot one-under par 70’s. Chris Brady shot 74 while Sarah Jacobs and Kristen Svicarovich added 76’s in the first tournament action of the Spring. “We had a good start,” Coach Martha Freitag reported. “May finished her round birdie-eagle and that should give us some nice momentum heading into tomorrow.” The second round of the Wildcat Invitational with begin at 8:00 a.m. MST.
