Commodore Golfers First at Arizona 1/24/2004 May Wood and Courtney Wood among individual leaders TUCSON, Ariz. – Vanderbilt jumped into first place after the second round of the 15-team Wildcat Invitational Golf Tournament hosted by the University of Arizona. The Commodores shot 289 for the second day, one shot better than their opening day effort and lead UCLA by three shots. Ohio State sits five strokes off the pace. Vanderbilt sophomore May Wood shot one-under 70 for the second straight day and is in a three-way tie for first place at 140. Teammate Courtney Wood fired an even-par 71 and is in fourth place heading into tomorrow’s final round. “We’re playing smart, confident golf,” says Head Coach Martha Freitag. “We did a good job today but we can score even better.
