11/6/2003

Vanderbilt defender Monica Buff (5-6, Lilburn, Ga.) was named to the 2003 Southeastern Conference Freshman Team.

Buff, one of three Commodore freshman, was one of four defenders named to the team. She played in 17 games and was one of six Commodores to total at least 1200 minutes on the season.

She had an assist on the game-winning goal vs. LSU in a televised game in the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.

“Monica had a sensational season for us this fall,” Head Coach Ronnie Coveleskie Hill said. “She came into preseason fit, focused and determined to help lead this team into the SEC tournament.

She is a top-notch competitor who loves the game and I am thrilled that Monica was recognized for her hard work and ability to lead our team,” Hill added.

The Commodores ended the regular season with an 8-6-3 record and are the #6 seed in the SEC Tournament.
