Men’s Golf Team to Tournament of Champions The Vanderbilt men’s golf team leaves for Knoxville this weekend to compete in the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions next Monday and Tuesday. The tournament will be held at the 6,948-yard, par 72 Holston Hills Country Club. Fifteen teams will play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday. Former Commodore Brandt Snedeker won this event last year with a sizzling 12-under par 204 total. Georgia is the defending team champion. The Commodores were tied for fifth in their last outing at the SMU Stonebridge Invitational, just six shots away from the team title. Coach Press McPhaul will take the usual quintet of Luke List — currently ranked 10th among golfers in the Southeast by Golfstat.com — Mark Donnell, Lance Goodson, Ben McClung and Dos Goldsmith to Knoxville. The field includes: Auburn, East Tennessee State, Georgia Southern, James Madison, Memphis, Pepperdine, Rice, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Swedish National Team, Tennessee (two teams), Tulane, Vanderbilt and Virginia. |
