Men’s Cross Country Team Competes at Auburn 10/11/2003 Men’s Cross Country Team Competes at Auburn NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s cross country team placed sixteenth at the Auburn Invitational, held last night in ?uburn, AL. The Commodores finished with an overall score of 430 on the 8K course. This race provided Vanderbilt with more SEC competition, and the opportunity to see where they stand compared to the rest of the region. Auburn won the meet with a team score of 127, and Georgia Tech junior Kyle Rabbitt took home first place with a time of 24:47.87. SEC foes Tennessee (third, 156 points), Mississippi State (10th, 264), and LSU (12th, 273) also competed. Vanderbilt was led by sophomore Eric Walle. Walle finished in 65th place, with a season-best time of 26:44.67. Also scoring for the Commodores were sophomore Tyler Harlan (84th, 26:59.32), senior John Cote (94th, 27:08.21), junior Matt Doll, (112th, 27:27.80), junior Mike Gaske (119th, 27:35.56), junior Taylor Hindle (122nd, 27:40.29), and freshman Mike Gabrys (169th, 28:32.27). James Guthrie (222nd, 29:48.42), and Ariel Prater (240th, 31:26.77) also finished the race for the Commodores. All of the Commodores set season bests in this race. There were 29 teams and 259 runners in this meet, which is by far the most competition Vanderbilt has faced this season.
