Commodore Baseball Recruiting Class Ranked in Top 25 9/29/2003
Commodore Baseball Recruiting Class Ranked in Top 25 9-29-03 The Vanderbilt baseball recruiting class has been ranked #24 by Collegiate Baseball. The Commodores welcome 12 freshmen, three junior college players and one transfer to the team. The Commodores are under the direction of second-year head coach Tim Corbin who led the team to the SEC Tournament last season for the first time in seven years. “I can see why we would be ranked because our class is larger than most and we have some high profile players in that group,” Corbin said. “Greg Moviel is a projected high-round draft pick and Ryan Rote and Antoan Richardson were previous draft picks (2002).” Vanderbilt is one of six Southeastern Conference teams that is ranked in the Top 25. “Our recruiting coordinator Eric Bakich (in his first year as recruiting coordinator) did an outstanding job in filling our needs. A true measure of a recruiting class is three-to-four years down the road and what ultimately becomes of your team,” Corbin added. Vanderbilt is in the middle of fall practice which concludes with the Black and Gold Games Oct. 10, 12, 13 at Hawkins Field.
