Vanderbilt Set to Defend Rudolph Crown 9/23/2003 Vanderbilt’s women’s golf team is preparing to defend its title at this weekend’s Mason Rudolph Championship, to be held at the beautiful Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin. Seventeen outstanding teams will tee it up Friday morning for the 54-hole event, culminating with Sunday’s final round. Tee-times start each day at 7:30 a.m. Vanderbilt’s Courtney Wood shot two-under par a year ago (77-68-69) and is back to defend her medalist honors. The field offers an excellent geographic mix with some of the best collegiate teams from the east and west in contention. Southern Cal, golfstat.com’s No. 1 rated team, is in the field as is Auburn, which tied for the championship two weeks ago at the NCAA Preview. Vanderbilt’s five-member team will tee off between 8:15 and 8:51 on Friday, paired with Arizona and North Carolina-Wilmington. In addition to Courtney Wood, the Commodores will include Sarah Jacobs, May Wood, Chris Brady and Kristen Svicarovich. Vanderbilt finished seventh as a team at the NCAA Preview earlier this month. May Wood paced the Commodores there with an eighth place finish by shooting even par over the Grand National Lake Course.
