The Vanderbilt Commodore women’s soccer team opens its home season Friday (Sept. 19) at 4 pm against Tennessee Tech in the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.

The Commodores are 2-2-1 overall coming off two double-overtime games in Arizona last weekend. Vanderbilt played #11 Arizona State to a 1-1 tie and lost to San Diego 1-0 both in double-overtime contests.

Junior Molly Wilson leads the teams in points with three, including one goal and one assist. Senior Laura Hershenow totals two points (one goal) along with senior Emily Wilpers (one goal) and freshman Lea Lafield (one goal). Freshman Susan McAleavy has one assist on the season for one point.

Senior goalkeepers Esther Thompson and Stacee Sproul have both played three games each allowing two goals each. Thompson missed two complete games due to a concussion suffered in the season opener. She played the entire game in both the Arizona State and San Diego contests allowing just two goals in 211 minutes of play. She owns an 0-1-1 record.
