ASU outshot Vanderbilt, 6-0 in both overtime periods — one in the first and five in the second – but Commodore senior goalkeeper Esther Thompson numbered four saves to hold on for the tie. It was the first action for Thomspon since the opening game against Marquette when she suffered a concussion after playing only 12 minutes. She finished the night with nine saves, including four in the overtime period. Vanderbilt totaled eight shots in the game, while ASU numbered 15. The Commodores face San Diego Sunday in Tempe, Ariz. |
