Men’s Cross Country Places Third at Commodore Classic 9/13/2003 Men’s Cross Country Places Third at Commodore Classic NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s cross country team finished third at the Commodore Classic held today at Vaughn’s Creek Course in Nashville. The Commodores finished with a score of 114 on the 8K course. Capturing the team title was Belmont University with 22 points. Individual honors went to Wes Seacat of the University of Louisville, who finished with a time of 26:26.16. Vanderbilt was led by sophomore Tyler Harlan. Harlan finished in 11th place with a time of 27:15.11. Also scoring for the Commodores were Eric Walle (27:37.65, 21st), Matt Doll (22nd, 27:40.01), John Cote (32nd, 28:14.17), Taylor Hindle (38th, 28:22.64), Mike Gaske (41st, 28:25.10), and Mike Gabrys (54th, 29:33.43). Other finishers included, James Guthrie (68th, 30:25.80), and Jake LaManna (90th, 32:10.80). The Commodores improved on their fourth place finish at last year’s Commodore Classic. Overall Coach Don Bailey was “very excited” about the race today. Vanderbilt had three runners place in the Top-25.
