Commodore Freshmen Named to the 2003 North Shore Classic All-Tournament Team 9/1/2003
Commodore Freshmen Named to the 2003 North Shore Classic All-Tournament Team Vanderbilt freshmen Conor Elllinger (6-5, 233, Fr., GK, Des Peres, Mo.) and Justin Moreland (5-10, 160, Fr., D, Broken Arrow, Okla.) were named to the 2003 North Shore Classic hosted by the Northwestern University Wildcats. The Commodores went 0-1-1 in the Classic with a 1-1 tie in double overtime vs. host Northwestern and a 1-0 loss to DePaul. Defense was the name of the game in the Northwestern game as Vanderbilt scored first at the 55:44 mark on a goal from senior Jimmy Stone (Kyle Lapkewych assist). Northwestern tied the game seven minutes later. Ellinger played the entire 110 minutes in goal totaling five saves and allowing the one goal. Moreland anchored the Commodore defense holding Northwestern scoreless in the final 48 minutes for the tie. |
