Vanderbilt Falls In Exhibition Game 3-1 8/25/2003 Vanderbilt Falls In Exhibition Game 3-1 The Vanderbilt men’s soccer team dropped a 3-1 match at Memphis Saturday evening in exhibition action. Kyle Lapkewych (6-2, So., Sterling Heights, Mich.) scored the lone goal for the Commodores giving VU a 1-0 lead. Memphis then scored three goals in a 20-minute span late in the first half to take a 3-1 lead into halftime. Neither team scored in the second half as Memphis held on for the 3-1 win. “Outside of that 20-minute span late in the first half, I felt we played pretty well,” said second year VU head coach Tim McClements. “Everyone played and it was a great learning experience,” McClements added. “It shows us where we need to go from here.” The Commodores open the regular season Saturday (Aug.30) on the road when they play Northwestern in the Wildcats Tournament. |
