Vanderbilt’s Goodson Wins Montgomery Invitational NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It took a little extra golf, but Vanderbilt’s Lance Goodson won the 2003 Montgomery Country Club Invitational Golf Tournament on the third playoff hole after shooting a three-round seven-under-par score of 203 in regulation. The tournament was held at the Montgomery Country Club in Montgomery, Ala. Goodson and Auburn’s Tyler McKeever were paired together for all three rounds of the tournament. Both golfers shot 67 in the first round, 67 in the second round and 69 in the final round to finish regulation play tied. After matching each other on the first two playoff holes, Goodson was able to claim victory on the third playoff hole. Goodson finished this past season second on the Vanderbilt team with his 74.05 stroke average in 40 rounds. The rising junior posted two top-10 finishes, twice placing as high as seventh. His best three-round score was an eight-under-par 208 at the Mason Rudolph Championship.
