The NCAA Track & Field East Regionals wrapped up on Saturday night and senior Carmen Carlos finished strong for the Commodores in the 5000-meter run. Carlos ran a time of 16:47.88, which was good for a 21st-place finish. Earlier this weekend, she was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
Vanderbilt’s Sarah Bell (pole vault) and Courtney Clayton (800-meter run) both qualified for the NCAA National Championships earlier this weekend at the NCAA Regionals. Bell was one of just eight athletes to clear the bar at 4.20 meters and Clayton was just .03 seconds away from breaking her own school record with a time of 2:04.15 on her way to clinching an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships, which will take place in Eugene, Ore. from June 7-10.
